A Lesson Learned

Sweater - Kohl's (Sold out)
Pants - Primark
Shoes - Similar

Photos by Kristina Sponseller

This post has nothing to do with these pictures! I just love this sweater and had to share it with you all!

Yesterday I had good intentions to workout and was only ten minutes in when Baby E dropped a weight on my ring finger. I cried for a good ten minutes. It hurt so bad!

My finger swelled up and bruised pretty quickly so I decided to go to the doctor and make sure it wasn't broken. It was kind of a wasted appointment because there's not much they can do unless the swelling doesn't go down, then I have to go back in for an x-ray.

So lesson learned is to not workout while Baby E is awake and keep all weights far away from him!

Gift Ideas for 3-4 Year Old Boys

This year has been so fun to shop for B! He's finally at the age where he can play with bigger kid toys and he also has been asking for certain things which can be either good or bad! This year his most requested thing has been a spinner...kind of random but really easy to get!

Here's some ideas I've thought of for this age group:
Magnetic letters
Tee ball set
Foam airplanes
Letter blocks
Cootie game
Magformers
Sandbox
Learn to Read Books

Halloween 2017

Our first Halloween in Boston was awesome! If you are ever here for this holiday you have to check out Beacon Hill. The houses are decorated and the streets are shut down. I'm so glad a friend told me about it!

Marshall from Paw Patrol and our little Lion got way too much candy! But let's be real, I'll probably eat most of it! #momprivilege

Today we are putting away the costumes and Halloween decor and getting ready for Thanksgiving!

I love this time of year!

At-Home Preschool Update

We are almost done with our third week of at-home preschooling and I thought it needed an update on here!

The first day was rough....B didn't want to do anything I asked. Since then he has gotten used to me being his teacher and has been pretty eager to learn. Once our hour or so of preschool ends he always gets a little disappointed because he wants to do more, which is a good sign and encourages me to want to keep teaching him!

I found out a couple weeks ago that B could possibly be going to Kindergarten next year because in Boston they give you the option of doing two years of Kindergarten. It made me so sad thinking that this might be the last year I have B home with me all the time, but I do think it will be good for him to be in a more social setting. So we'll see what happens!

Ties for all Occasions

We had a great week with my husband being home and sadly now it's back to work. I'll be sharing the highlights a little later this week, but for now I wanted to share another shop that I found and love- frank & buck!

B has been into wearing ties to church the past couple months and I think little boys in ties are so adorable! These cotton ties are such good quality and they have the best prints!

These would be such a fun gift for any man in your life! B and my hubby approve!:)

Living in Boston with Small Children

Tee c/o Lexi's Loft (Use code WHATLINDSEYWORE for 15% off!)

Before moving to Boston one thing I was pretty worried about was how I was going to survive living in a huge city with two little kids. We've come to realize that there are a ton of kids in Boston!

Here are some things we've already figured out to do with kids in the three months we've been here!

+The libraries have so many events for kids of all ages. Usually when we go (which is during the day) 85% of the kids are with their nanny. There are also parks everywhere here and if we go in the morning most of the kids are with their nanny! This makes it a little difficult making mom friends. but the boys have fun and meet kids from the neighborhood.

+Find out from other moms if there are Facebook groups for your area. We've been added to a couple and there is a wealth of knowledge there for play dates, activities and city events.

+Downtown Boston has many kid friendly places to hang out at in the summer. There's splash pads, green space, playgrounds, Boston Commons, the markets and all of the museums!

I know none of these are new and crazy ideas that no one has thought of but hopefully they will help if you're new to your city or wanting to get out!

Camping in Vermont

Two weekends ago we went on our first camping trip as a family of four!

We left on Friday afternoon thinking we would get there with at least two hours of daylight, but because of traffic it took an hour longer than we expected. We ended up stopping to eat and also had to give Baby E a diaper change. He was so happy to be out of his seat!

This was our first time to Vermont! We also had to drive through New Hampshire, so we got to check two states off our list!

We camped at a church camp called Camp Joseph. It was literally right next to the birthplace of Joseph Smith Jr!

We couldn't park the car by the camp sites so they had these cool carts to use!

B loved the fire and eating marshmallows:)

There was a huge grassy area, so on Saturday we played spike ball and kickball. Then played in the pond and rode in the canoe. There were also so many ticks at this place-so gross! One fell off of me onto Baby E in our tent and luckily I found it, but I still itch when I think of it!

After playing in the water, we drove an hour to the Ben & Jerry's Factory.
Isn't Vermont so pretty?!?!

We took a tour and ate yummy ice cream!

On Sunday we went to church, then packed up camp. We stopped at the Joseph Smith Memorial on the way out.

It is 38 1/2 feet tall, one foot for every year of the prophet's life.
 We'll be back Vermont!

Projects in the Boys Room

Happy Friday!!

Today I'm showing you the boys' room!

Ever since we found out we were moving to Boston, I've been trying to figure out ways to keep things organized and uncluttered because our new apartment isn't that much bigger than our last one. Which is becoming less and less ideal as time goes on, but we're having to sacrifice things the next four years so I'm trying to deal with it (having a positive attitude of course;)!

Sorry to get off on that tangent:) Moving on to the room....

My husband got a wooden crate and cut it in half, painted it and screwed it to the wall! It's awesome and we were able to get rid of a bookshelf by adding these to the walls. Thanks Pinterest!

This dresser was a natural color and at first I was going to paint it white, but then I thought it would look great dark, especially since the crib, toddler bed, and other furniture in the room are dark (it looks darker in this photo than it really is).

I'm really happy with how the shelves and dresser turned out and so glad they are finished!

Boston Children's Museum

On Fridays you only play $1 to get into the Children's Museum, so we decided to face our fears of riding the T (or subway) and take it to the museum.
It was about a 15 minute walk to the T station and then we found out I had bought the wrong tickets online, so we got the right tickets and took the long way to where we were supposed to get on.

We rode for about 15 minutes, got off at our stop, and took a couple elevators up and stepped out into Downtown Boston! It was awesome not having to deal with traffic or finding a place to park!

Museum fun-There was so much to do!
We will definitely be taking the T more often and visiting the children's museum!
