Favorite Things// Nail Polish

Today I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea. We are talking about one of the best things in the world...NAIL POLISH! Painting your nail totally changes what your hands and feet look like. I worked at day spa for a couple years doing manicures and pedicures. My favorite part was painting the nails! It was always fun to see what colors people would pick. We also had glitter there to put on the nails and that always looked pretty.

This is one of my favorite nail colors!
Vinylux Negligee

As mentioned in a past post(find it here), I love Vinylux polish! Light pinks are definitely a nail trend that I hope stays in forever!
Here another of my favorite colors, it looks really pink in the picture but its a more coral color and is perfect for summer!
OPI Cajun Shrimp
I normally don't wear green polish on my fingernails, but this is a shade I would consider wearing:)
OPI Gargantuan Green Grape

Tooth Time// Baby Teeth

It's that time of the week for....
If you are new to this blog, every Tuesday my husband and I are bringing you a dental tip! Let us know in the comments below if their is a topic you want covered!

Baby Teeth:
The ADA recommends that a dentist examine a child within six months after the first tooth comes in and no later than the first birthday. A dental visit at an early age is a "well-baby checkup" for the teeth.
Besides checking for tooth decay and other problems, the dentist can show you how to clean the child's teeth properly and how to evaluate any adverse habits such as thumb sucking.

When teeth first come in, some babies may have sore or tender gums. Gently rubbing your child's gums with a clean finger, a small, cool spoon or a wet gauze pad can be soothing. You can also give the baby a clean teething ring to chew on. If your child is still cranky and in pain, consult your dentist or physician. Most children have a full set of 20 primary teeth by the time they are 3.
Found here.

Baby B only has 5 teeth so far and teething really hasn't been too awful for us. Just the usual runny nose and fever, which Tylonol takes care of. He would wake up during the night because of teething, but we were already getting up to feed him so it wasn't a big deal. I'm sure when his other teeth start coming through it won't be fun because now he is sleeping through the night!

My weekend with a good book!

This last week was a little crazy. My hubby stayed late a few nights to study for a test and this means I'm basically a single mom for those few days. Kudos to all the single mothers out there. I don't know how you do it because it's hard!
Thankfully dental school doesn't last forever:)
At the school my husband goes to, the second year is considered the hardest and he only has a month and a half left of it! Yay!!!
On Thursday and Friday he was able to come home early and help with Baby B because I had an awful cold/flu. I'm determined to make this coming week great and productive because last week was definitely not that:)

This weekend I finished this book
You can find it here.
It was sooo good! If you love suspense and action you will love this book!

Happy Monday!

Tooth Time// Dentist Anxiety

Every week I will be collaborating with my husband and sharing a dental related tip with you all!

This week's topic is Dentist Anxiety.

I don't mind getting my teeth cleaned, but if I have cavities I am a nervous wreak when I have to go back and get them filled. I don't like needles, so once I get past the anesthesia I'm fine, but I know there are people who fear others looking in their mouth.

Here are some tips on how you can cut down your dental anxiety:
  • Share your anxiety. If you're tense or anxious, tell your dentist and the dental staff. Getting your concerns out in the open will let your dentist adapt the treatment to your needs.
  • Help yourself. Choose a time for your dental visit when you're less likely to be rushed or under pressure. For some people, that means a Saturday or an early-morning appointment.
  • Bring someone to hold your hand. It my sound funny, but it helps me:)
  • Wear headphones. If the sound of the drill bothers you, bring headphones so you can listen to your favorite music. Some dental offices even show television or DVDs. During the dental visit you might try visualizing yourself relaxing on a warm beach, some offices even have pictures of beaches on the ceiling.
Hopefully some of these tips help you at you next dental visit!

Oh the wonderful things flour and water can do!

Baby B got the book "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?" by Dr. Seuss for Christmas.
We read it multiple times a day. Recently I feel like lots of stuff has come up missing: the TV remote, socks, toys, and most recently, this book! I am a pretty organized person and it is driving me crazy that I cannot find it. We live in a pretty small town home, so its got to be some where! That's how I came up with the title because I have actually missed reading this book:)
Today I'm linking up with Cindy at Skip to my Lou for
STRING EGGS
I have seen this pin on Pinterest for a few years and it was actually in my Easter board since I first saw it.

Well, I finally got around to making the string eggs and it was a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be!
Here is a list of things you will need:
-wax paper
-water balloons
-embroidery floss
-4 cups  water
-1 cup flour
-string or yarn

1)In a saucepan, whisk the flour and water together on medium-high heat until all the clumps are gone. Continue stirring until it begins to boil and remove from heat. Let cool.
2)Place wax paper on the surface you are working on and blow up balloons about 2-4 inches-depending on how big you want your eggs.
3)Cut the embroidery floss in to 3-4 foot lengths.
4)Here's the hard part:) With each 3-4 foot piece, there are 6 individual strings, separate that to make two strands. Each containing 3 individual strings. (Some colors were easier to separate, so on some eggs  we ended up not separating the strands. It just used more embroidery floss that way.)
5) Dunk a strand into the water and flour mixture and remove, wiping the excess off.
6)Wrap around balloon in what ever design you want the egg to have.
7)Tie a piece of yarn/string around end of balloon and hang up to dry.
8)After it is completely dry, pop the balloon. The balloon might not pop if you have too much dried flour-water mixture on it. If this happens you will have to pick each hole with a needle. (Like picture below)
Some of our eggs didn't turn out...right pink one.
But thankfully, most of them did! I love how the yellow and white ones look!
You can put them in a basket, on a wreath, or make a garland! The possibilities are endless!

Happy crafting!

Fashion Friday// Cardigans

Earlier this week Baby B and I went to the park and it was great weather! After the park we stopped at the store to get some groceries. Once we got home, I took Baby B inside and shut the door just enough to not lock myself out and ran back to  the car to get the food.
While grabbing the bags I look up to see the front door open and Baby B face planting to the ground! I watched to see if he was going to start crying, but he got up and kept on going down the sidewalk towards the car.
I had three bags and two gallons of milk in my arms and quickly grabbed Baby B's hand to guide him to the house.
He would not have that! He wanted to stay outside. I dropped the food inside the door and carried my screaming child back inside! He is starting to have an opinion more and more everyday!
Hopefully in the coming weeks we will have warmer weather so I can have more fun experiences with Baby B outside;)
But for now here are some Friday Favorites// cardigans, each under $25, to keep you warm until then!

High Shine Eyecolor

As a wife of a student, I am always looking for great deals on clothes and especially high quality makeup.
Before I stopped working and became a stay-at-home mom, I used my tip money, from working at the spa, to buy one of these Bare Minerals High Shine Eyecolors and it cost me around $12.
This weekend, while shopping at the outlets, I went into Bare Minerals and found these for $2.50 each! Whoo Hoo! The lady at the store said that they might become discontinued because of the price drop:( So I had to get another one(glisten). The tube lasts so long because a little goes a long ways.
Left-Flash, Right-Glisten-these colors look like they are sold out online but I'm sure you can find them in a store still.
Here is what the applicator looks like:
I am wearing Glisten and it is now my go-to eye shadow!

Back to real life

We had such a fun spring break and I would love to always be able to ride bikes to the beach every day!

Here are some of the things we did on our vacation:

We went dolphin watching one afternoon! The boat ride was an hour and a half long but we didn't see any Dolphins until the very end, so they let us watch them for a while before we went back to the harbor.
We went on a nature walk and Baby B loved it! We also saw a few alligators:)
Harbour Town Lighthouse
We went to Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room. It is an old boarding house turned into a Southern style restaurant. The only thing is that it only fits about 70 people and you have to wait in line 1-2 hours to get in because it's so popular plus it's only open from 11-2pm Monday-Friday. President Obama has even eaten there, but I'm sure he didn't have to wait in line.
The food was pretty good but we mainly went there for the experience.
The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist was huge!
River Street in Savannah, Georgia

Happy Monday!

Spring Nails

Currently, this is the polish on my nails. I am obviously loving purple right now! If you have never tried CND Vinylux nail polish, you need to!! I love it! It costs the same or less than regular polish. It dries really fast, which is great for when my little boy wakes up earlier from a nap than he should be:) It also lasts a week without chipping, although if I'm doing more cleaning or dish washing than normal it doesn't last as long. There is no base coat needed for this brand, but you have to use the CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat! Other top coats won't work, I've tried and it didn't turn out well:)
CND Lilac Longing
OPI Anti-Bleak
When using this polish, or any polish, its important to push back your cuticles so that the polish adheres to the nail completely. Below is a great cuticle exfoliating treatment, that you just rub on and let sit and then use an orange stick or cuticle pusher to push back those cuticles!
