Recent Beauty Favorites

In all reality I want to think that the weather is cooling down, but it's not over here on the East Coast. We are still melting in sweat from the humidity! To embrace our extended summer weather I'm sharing a few new products (and one old one) that I discovered this summer and love!

Anastasia Brow Definer: This brow pencil is on the higher end side but it is very worth it! I used to use the Brow Wiz which is very similar, but I am loving the thicker pencil and quicker application! I use the shade Taupe and it's the perfect cool color for all you blondes!

Burt's Bee Lip Stick-Shade-Iced Iris: I have always thought highly of the Burt's Bee brand and this has lived up to it.  I was looking for a little color for my lips and this shade does a great job of adding it without feeling too over the top. It feels like a chap stick once applied and isn't drying at all!

Remedy Cuticle Oil: This summer my toenail polish wasn't lasting as long and the skin around my nails was dry looking. I found this cuticle oil at my local beauty supply store and it has been a game changer! It refreshes the look of my nails and keeps my polish going strong!

Suave Dry Shampoo: I wash my hair about once a week and with it being summer I was worried I would need to wash it more, but I was wrong! This dry shampoo kept my hair looking oil-free and never left it feeling weighed down! There's no use buying the expensive stuff when you can get this dry shampoo for under $5!

What products are you loving lately?!?!

Holiday Nails

Hello!
This morning I was supposed to be up at 4:50 to buy a parking deck pass for my husband at 5:00. Well I didn't hear my two alarms go off and woke to my husband calling me at 5:05! Dang it! Hopefully I'll be able to get the one he wants!

We spend hours each semester refreshing the page in hopes to get a parking pass in a good parking deck. You would think there would be a better way to do this. Oh well, this is just part of dental school dream!

Now onto something holiday related!

Here is one of my new favorite holiday nail colors! Bright, Shiny, and Red!
CND Vinylux Rouge Rite

I love Vinylux for my fingernails because of the fast drying time, color choices, and length of time it lasts (one week!)

Other holiday polish colors I love right now:

Fall Nails + a GIVEAWAY!

Happy First Day of Fall!! In honor of it officially being fall, today I'm linking up with Pinky from p!nkpers!stence for "Falling for Fall" and sharing my favorite nail colors for this season! There's a fun giveaway at the end of this post you won't want to miss!

This Fall my nail color choices are drawn to dark purples, grays, dark reds, and more muted colors. Having my nails painted helps me feel more put together and it ties an outfit together!

OPI I Sāo Paulo Over There (color in giveaway)

To help your nail polish last the longest, remember to always prep your nails beforehand by pushing back any cuticles and using acetone or a good nail dehydrator like CND Scrubfresh. After applying the polish, it's good to put a cuticle oil on your cuticles each day to keep them looking in tiptop shape!

With all this talk of nails, it's giveaway time!
I wanted to share my love of nails with one of my lucky readers!

I'm giving away CND Nourishing RemoverCND Scrubfresh, CND
Solar Oil, and two amazing OPI polishes (colors shown above). US Residents only.
Winner will be announced NEXT Friday, October 2nd!

Sparkle and Shine!

I LOVE glitter toes! I used to think that you could only do them with gel polish, but quickly found out that this look can be achieved a much easier way!

While working in a day spa I did lots of pedicures. Everyone loved the look of glitter toes without having to give up the time or cost of gel nails.

Here's how to achieve this look!

Supplies needed:
-pure acetone
-cotton balls
-cuticle remover
-cuticle pusher
-base coat
-polish
-fine glitter
-top coat
-brush

1) Prep your nails by removing leftover polish and pushing back cuticles. This is my favorite cuticle remover.

2) Put pure acetone on a cotton ball and apply to each toe nail to remove excess moisture and cuticle remover.

3) Apply one coat of base coat. I love OPI's Natural Nail Base Coat.

4) Then apply one coat of nail polish that goes with the glitter. (I used a dark purple polish under my light purple glitter).

5) Sprinkle glitter over wet polish. I will usually paint 2 nails and sprinkle glitter, and repeat until all are covered.

6) Let them dry for about 10 minutes and use brush to take off excess glitter.

At Home Mani & Pedi tips

First off, today is my 4 year wedding anniversary!
We are celebrating tomorrow night, so more details will come on Monday!

I worked in a day spa doing manicures and pedicures for about two years. I love giving and getting pedicures! I know that sounds gross but feet don't bother me.

Here are some things I learned while doing this job.

-Use a pumice stone in the shower. I run mine over my feet every day. It keeps my them smooth and  looking fresh. No one wants rough heels, especially during sandal season!
Here are some great options if you are looking for one!

- Always push back your cuticles before polishing your nails! This will help the polish last longer because the polish will completely adhere to nail. Here is a post I did on a great cuticle remover.

- Wipe nails with Pure Acetone before polishing nails. This will remove any moisture in the nail, also giving your nail polish the chance to last the longest!

-Use base and top coat. I love OPI's!

-Keeping your cuticles moisturized will keep your nails looking fresh the longest! Here are some great cuticle oils.
