Currently using in the...{Shower}

So this post is a little random/weird but I was in the shower when I thought of it! Haha:) So here goes!

We obviously all take showers and I think it's interesting to know what different products people use in shower and what order they do everything in, so here's my list. I'd love to hear yours in the comments!

(Note: I only wash my hair once a week, so when I don't wash my hair the order is the same minus the shampooing and conditioning!)

First I make sure my boys are happy and occupied because this is usually the only time of day I have a moment alone! I shampoo my hair twice, so I first use Paul Mitchell's Shampoo Two and then wash my face with Biore face wash.

After that I rinse out my hair and put in Joico Endure Violet Purple Shampoo. I love using this to keep my blonde hair from going brassy! I let that sit in my hair for a couple minutes. Then I rinse it and put in Joico Endure Violet Conditioner and let that sit in my hair for a couple minutes as well. During that time I'll use my pumice block (less than $2!) and shave- I use Tea Tree Shampoo to shave with and it works great!

Then I rinse my hair and use body wash. Right now I'm using Zest Fruit Boost and it smells amazing!

There you have it! It seems like a lot when it's written out but it's really not that complicated;)

Recent Hair and Outfits

Today I thought I would give you some hairstyle and outfit ideas that have worked well for me this summer. 

Hair:

This humidity has been making my hair really frizzy, so braiding it has been the best solution. It's obviously not long enough to pull back into a ponytail, so braiding one side of my hair keeps it off of my face which is where the main frizz seems to be. 

This is the same braid as above but I didn't pull all of the hair through the pony tail and I actually think its really pretty. 

Outfits:

I featured this dress on Friday and I finally wore it this weekend and I love it! It's very comfortable and is great for those hot days when you have to be outside.

I found this shirt on clearance at Kohl's! It's a great shirt to dress up a skirt or lounge pants and I love how bright it is!

Protecting from the HEAT

Welcome once again to my hair care series! So far we have talked about shampoos, conditioners, hair sprays, and men's styling products. Today it's all about heat protectors!

Heat Protectors are so important in maintaining healthy hair.

In beauty school we did an experiment with the Paul Mitchell Heat Seal by pointing a hair dryer toward one hand and feeling how hot the air was. Then we sprayed the Heat Seal on that same hand and held the hair dryer up to it again. The difference was amazing. The Heat Seal protected your hand from feeling hardly any of the heat from the blow dryer!

 Imagine what your hair feels like when you don't use a heat protector!

Here are some awesome heat protectors that I have tried and work well!

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product This stuff has so many benefits and one of them is to protect your hair from heat!

Paul Mitchell Heat Seal Talked about above. This is great for protecting against heat but it also helps hold your hair in place from humidity once it's been styled by a hot tool. Use on damp hair.

Joico Blowout Perfecting Creme I received a sample of this and it worked amazing! You apply it to your damp hair, blow dry, and heat style. It acts like a heat protector and extents the length of your hair style.

Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press This works the same as the Heat Seal but it is to be used on dry hair before using hot tools. Helps strengthen hair and fight the frizz that comes from heat styling.

Men's Styling Products

To continue on with my hair care series, today we are focusing on Men's Styling Products! Obviously most of you readers won't be using these products unless you have shorter hair, but we are usually the ones that buy these hair products for the men in our lives.

Here are products that my close family and friend's use and love!

one// Bed Head Manipulator This has a matte finish and gives great texture to short hair. It can be used on wet or dry hair.

two// Garnier Power Putty Surfer Hair This stuff smells great and has a great hold! Your hair will feel a little greasy after it has been applied. Also works great in damp and dry hair!

three// Tea Tree Grooming Pomade This is awesome for curly or wavy hair! It shapes and controls short hair while adding shine.

four//LA Looks Mega Hold Gel If you are wanting a wet look all day long, then a gel will be perfect for achieving your hairstyle. Here is just one of the many gels that will give you that look.

five// Tea Tree Shaping Cream My husband has been using this stuff for a really long time. It has a wonderful minty smell! It has a flexible hold that lasts all day and has a matte finish.

Hold on to those hairs!

Yes, you guessed it! We are talking about a daily necessity...HAIRSPRAY!

Great hairsprays should be able to 

1)reduce static

 2)add shine

 3)strongly hold hair in place

4)not leave flaky buildup in hair. 

All of these hairsprays below will do that for you!

one// Paul Mitchell Hold Me Tight I get a lot of flyaways and this hairspray is great for keeping those stubborn hairs down! It's a powerful hairspray that feels like it should only be flexible hold.

two// Suave Rave I used to always use this hairspray until I found the Aussie one but I still think this one does a great job! It comes in unscented or scented which is good for those of you who have allergies to scents. You can also get this at any store.

three// Paul Mitchell Super Clean Extra This hairspray feels like you have nothing in your hair! It also adds lots of volume and fullness.

four// Aussie Aussome Volume I talked about this hairspray in my favorite hair products post a couple weeks ago. This is my go to hairspray! It's found at basically any store, is inexpensive which is great because us girls go through a lot of hairspray, and it holds really well!

five// Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray This hairspray smells great. It leaves your hair extremely shiny and the hold is excellent! I like it best for up-dos.

What I Wore {4} + Favorite hair products

Happy Memorial Day! 

We have had a wonderful weekend so far! We got to see some great friends before they move to Germany. We also went to two barbecues, one Saturday and one Sunday. Today we are going swimming for the first time this summer! Yay!! Well I'm keeping this short today. Check out my favorite hair products below!

As you know I love hair products! In cosmetology school I was in a club called the Take Home Team and we learned all about hair products and how and when to use them. It was great! Today I'm going to share my favorite products that I use on myself.

one//Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Daily Boost

I love this stuff! I spray it on my roots when my hair is wet. Then I diffuse my hair and the heat activates it and my roots have lots of volume!

two//Paul Mitchell Round Trip

Whether your hair is naturally curly or you are using a curling iron, this stuff makes your curls so soft and form so well! I mix a few pumps of this with my mousse before applying to my hair and it works wonderful!

three//Paul Mitchell Flexible Style Sculpting Foam

This is basically  mousse with a fancy name "sculpting foam":) I mix this in the Round Trip as I talked about above. This is great for straight hair to add some moisture and to have a good foundation for your hair. The smell is great too!

four//Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Spray

I love using this sea salt spray for those days when I'll be outside and letting my hair do its own thing. I don't use the Round Trip with this because I feel like its too much and weighs my hair down.

five//Moroccanoil Treatment

Moroccanoil Treatment is amazing! My friend introduced it to me and it does wonders in humid climates! It smells great and keeps your hair smooth and shiny! It does come in light for blondes or regular for any hair types.

six//Aussie Aussome Volume Hairspray

This is the only drugstore product I use and that's good because I go through hairspray so fast! It holds great and doesn't feel like my hair is caked with hairspray.

Moisturizing your lovely locks

Here is part two of my hair care series. All of these conditioners have matching shampoos that I talked about here. 

I love conditioners!
They do so much for your hair, like:
-Hydrate
-Detangle
-Soften
-Replenish moisture

 It is very important to apply most of your conditioner to the ends of your hair. That is the most damaged part and needs the most love.  If you hair tends to get greasy fast, don't apply very much to your roots.  

one// Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Conditioner
This conditioner smells amazing and has a hint of purple to it to continue removing any yellow from your blondes. It does a great job of untangling color treated hair as well.

two// Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Conditioner

This conditioner has a cooling effect on your scalp, especially after using the Tea Tree Shampoo, it feels heavenly! If you've had a scalp treatment with this tea tree line you will know what I'm talking about! The shampoo and conditioner can be used on color treated hair.

three// Paul Mitchell Lavender Mint Moisturizing Conditioner
I love using this conditioner after a day at the pool. It brings your hair back to life and softens it amazingly! The lavender smell is very relaxing.

four// Joico Color Endure Violet Conditioner

This conditioner acts a lot like the Forever Blonde conditioner. Leave in 1-3 minutes to let it work it's magic!

Cleansing your hair

Today I'm talking about shampoo. This is the first post of my new hair care series.

As a cosmetologist I've used many different shampoos. I never suggest buying drugstore shampoo because in the case of shampoo quality is important! Yes, professional brands are more expensive but they last longer and work better.
You will notice in my favorite shampoos below, there are only two brands, Paul Mitchell and Joico. I attended a Paul Mitchell cosmetology school so I'm a little biased but I truly love these products. I tried the Joico shampoos out because they are a great price for being professional products and I ended up loving them too!

I like to use 2 to 3 different shampoos and rotate using them. You're probably thinking that that's a lot, which it is, but there are different purposes for different shampoos.

Here's a list of my favorites shampoos and how I use them.

one// Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two
This is a cleansing shampoo that strips your hair of dirt and grease. You definitely have to use a conditioner after, if not it leaves your hair feeling dry. I use it first when washing my hair and will follow with a purple or curly hair shampoo.

two// Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo
I love the minty smell of this shampoo. I have psoriasis on the back of my scalp and the area gets very itchy from built up dry skin. I will put this shampoo on that area and let it sit for about 5 minutes to relieve the itchiness and to remove the built up dry skin. It's also an everyday cleansing shampoo and I even put it in my legs before shaving to help them not itch and prevent razor burn. This shampoo has many uses.

three// Paul Mitchell Platinum Blonde Shampoo
Purple shampoos are the best for blondes and can be used by anyone with natural blonde, highlighted, platinum, or gray/white hair. This is a great purple shampoo to use every time you wash your hair. It keeps your blondes bright and brass free.

four// Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo
This is a very strong purple shampoo and keeps your hair a cool blonde. If you leave it on your blonde hair too long it will turn purple. I will use this every 2-3 times I wash my hair. It also has a great smell!

five// Joico Smooth Cure Shampoo
This shampoo is designed for curly or frizzy hair and helps protect it from humidity. I haven't used it long enough to know how well it helps with humidity since summer time is when it's most humid here in Virginia. I hope it works because I need something that will help keep my curls frizz free!

six// Paul Mitchell Lavender Mint Moisturizing Shampoo
I love the smell of this shampoo as well! One of my hair clients uses this shampoo and I can still smell it in her hair the next day. This is a great shampoo if your hair is extra dry. I love using it on my curly hair to control the frizz as well!

Being a cosmetologist, I love looking at new hair ideas and I was in a great need of a haircut, so here's what inspired me:

My friend was supposed to cut my hair but her kids got sick, so I cut it myself with the help of my husband. I don't recommend anyone cutting their own hair, it's harder than you may think:) This is the second time I've cut it(besides my bangs) and it actually turned out looking like I wanted.
