Freedom Blocks

Are you looking for something patriotic to place on your entertainment center or fireplace mantle? These blocks are just that and can also be made double sided so they can be used longer throughout the year!

Supplies needed:
-7 wooden 2x4 blocks-my measurements were 2 @ 4.25 inches, 2 @ 3.6 inches, 2 @ 4 inches, and 1 @ 5 inches.
-paint
-Mod Podge
-paint brushes
-contact paper
-access to a Silhouette or Cricit

I had my husband cut the wood and sand it for me. Then I painted them white. It took about 3 coats of paint to cover them to my liking.
After letting the blocks completely dry, I applied the Silhouette or Cricut cut contact paper to each block.

I painted one thin coat of Mod Podge over the contact paper to prevent any bleeding of the paint under the contact paper.

I then painted 2-3 thin coats of paint. I didn't wait for it to dry before removing the contact paper because there is a chance of the paint peeling up if dried completely. Remove the contact paper very slowly .

I waited for the Freedom side to dry before doing the same thing to opposite side.

Happy crafting!

  4. I don't typically get excited about DIY projects because they rarely turn out as planned. But THIS idea is adorable. I think I'll try it and let you know how it goes. I'm actually hosting a 4th of July Picnic for my family. If you have any picnic-appropriate DIY ideas, I'd love to see em.

I would literally wear this outfit as is, right now. It's so cute and perfect for summer (and I'm a sucker for blues...). You look amazing! Oh, and thanks for putting me on to a new jewelry brand. Happy Birthday month! :)
