Old Window Transformation

I hope you all had a great long weekend! We did over here!
Growing up my family visits our ancestors graves on Memorial Day. This year my brother was so thoughtful and sent me pictures of one set of my grandparents' headstones and a picture of one of my husband's grandparents' headstone. With being so far from family, it's always nice to get pictures of activities they do so we can still feel a part of things.

On to the tutorial for the day!

I have had this window for about a year, trying to figure out what to do with it. I found some ideas on Pinterest that I liked and decided to combine two of them!

I cleaned the dust and dirt off the window and painted the front and sides. Then I washed the glass with Windex.

I got this picture printed off at Staples and it's called an engineer print. They are very inexpensive and work great for projects like this. I measured it to fit the window.
Then used packing tape to attach it to the window.
I bought the shelf unpainted, so I painted it white and my husband attached it to the window. When we put it up we decided that we wanted to add hooks for guests to hang their coats on.

So we got wood and cut it to the right size, painted it and then put the hooks on and attached it to the wall.
I think it turned out great! I'm still looking for objects to set on the shelf. I would love to know what you would put on it, Let me know in the comments below!

  3. I love this! Such a great way to reuse a window, and have a place to hang things. I really want to try this out, but I should probably get a window first. ;)
